PRSI Dental Benefit
If you pay PRSI, you may be entitled to a free dental examination and a contribution towards a scale and polish — at no cost to you for the exam.
Visiting the practice
- Breaffy Dental is located at Breaffy Medical and Business Centre, Breaffy GAA Club, Demesne, Breaffy, Co. Mayo, F23 T228. We are just outside Castlebar, approximately a five-minute drive from the town centre. Free on-site parking is available in the Breaffy GAA car park.
- We are open Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. We are closed at weekends. If you have an urgent dental concern outside these hours, please phone the practice and follow the instructions on our voicemail.
- You can reach Breaffy Dental by calling 094 902 3163. You can also send an enquiry through the contact form on our website and we will get back to you.
- You do not need to formally register before your first appointment. Simply call us on 094 902 3163 or use the appointment request form on our website. We welcome new patients from Castlebar, Breaffy, Westport, Ballina and across County Mayo.
- Your first appointment begins with a conversation about your concerns and dental history. We then carry out a careful examination of your teeth, gums and overall oral health. We explain what we find in plain English, discuss your options and, if treatment is appropriate, provide a clear written estimate. There is no pressure to decide anything on the day.
Treatments and costs
- Yes. Eligible PRSI patients can receive a free dental examination and a scale and polish for €15 per year under the PRSI Treatment Benefit Scheme. Breaffy Dental can check your PRSI Treatment Benefit eligibility for you, or you can check your eligibility directly with the Department of Social Protection.
- Yes. We offer dental implant assessment and placement for suitable patients. Implant placement starts from approximately €1,300, with the implant crown from €1,350. A surgical guide, where required, is approximately €400. Suitability depends on a careful assessment of your bone, gums and overall dental health. We will explain all options and costs clearly before any treatment begins.
- Yes. We offer clear aligner treatment for suitable patients. Invisalign® is one well-known clear aligner system we can provide where appropriate. Clear aligner treatment is €395 per month for 12 months (treatment fee €4,740). A records and treatment planning fee of €150 applies before treatment begins and is not credited against the treatment fee. The total including records and planning is €4,890. We begin with a suitability assessment to determine whether clear aligner treatment is appropriate for you.
- Yes. Professional teeth whitening is available at approximately €299. We discuss whitening in the context of your overall dental health, as it is most effective when teeth and gums are healthy. We will advise whether whitening is suitable for you at your examination.
- Yes. We welcome nervous patients and people who have avoided dental care for a long time. We take a calm, unhurried approach, explain everything clearly and never pressure you into a decision. You can call us to ask questions before you even book an appointment.
- Yes. We provide dental care for children, with examinations from €35 and hygiene appointments from €50 for under-16s. We focus on prevention, practical advice and helping children feel comfortable with dental visits from an early age.

- Breaffy Dental welcomes patients from Castlebar, Breaffy, Westport, Ballina, Claremorris, Ballinrobe, Foxford, Swinford and across County Mayo. We are located just outside Castlebar, approximately a five-minute drive from the town centre.
- Yes. Free on-site parking is available in the Breaffy GAA Club car park, directly beside the practice.
- We are located at Breaffy Medical and Business Centre, Breaffy GAA Club, Demesne, Breaffy, Co. Mayo. From Castlebar, take the Breaffy Road (R312) south for approximately 4.5 km. The practice is signposted at Breaffy GAA Club. You can also find directions on Google Maps.
