PRSI TREATMENT BENEFIT

Your PRSI dental benefit for 2026

If you qualify for the PRSI Treatment Benefit Scheme and haven't used your dental benefit this calendar year, you may still be able to use it before the end of 2026.

Breaffy Dental can check your eligibility for you.

We'll check your eligibility before treatment.

What may your PRSI dental benefit cover?

Annual dental examination

€0 if eligible

The Department of Social Protection pays the full cost of one oral examination per calendar year for eligible patients.

Scale and polish contribution

€50 contribution if eligible

The Treatment Benefit Scheme contributes €50 towards one standard scale and polish per calendar year. If there is a balance to pay for a standard scale and polish, the patient contribution is capped at €15 under the scheme.

Eligibility and available benefit are confirmed before treatment.

You don't need to check your PRSI yourself

Contact us and we can check your Treatment Benefit eligibility for you before your appointment.

We'll let you know whether you are eligible and whether you have already used your dental benefit during the current calendar year.

What happens at the appointment?

  1. We confirm your PRSI benefit

We check your eligibility and available Treatment Benefit before treatment.

  2. Your dentist examines your teeth and gums

Your annual examination is about understanding your current oral health and identifying anything that may need attention.

  3. We explain what, if anything, should happen next

If no further treatment is needed, that's good news. If something needs attention, we'll explain what we have found, the available options and any costs before arranging further care.

You are not committing to additional treatment by booking your PRSI examination.

What about a scale and polish?

The PRSI scheme provides a €50 contribution towards one standard scale and polish per calendar year for eligible patients.

Your dentist will first assess your oral health and advise what type of care is appropriate for you.

If your needs go beyond a standard scale and polish, we will explain this clearly and discuss the appropriate next step before any further appointment or treatment is arranged.

Haven't been to the dentist for a while?

That's okay. You don't need to know what treatment you need before you come in.

The purpose of the examination is to find out how things are now, explain anything we see and help you understand your options.

Whether it has been six months or several years since your last visit, the first step is simply an examination.
